If you’re looking for a safe and effective way to eliminate knee pain, you should give prolotherapy a try, especially if you’re not keen on having knee surgery. A number of studies and independent investigations have found that prolotherapy is an effective non-surgical way to treat a number of knee problems and degeneration.
Doctors from the University of Wisconsin have found that prolotheraphy can lead to a safe, significant and progressive improvement of knee pain. It also has been found to help improve knee function and relieve the stiffness often experienced by those with knee injuries. The research team said patients who have undergone prolotherapy continue to display the same results even at a follow-up of an average of two and half years after their initial treatment. Because of this, the doctors concluded that prolotherapy may greatly benefit those with unresponsive knee osteoarthritis.
Doctors from Caring Medical, meanwhile, conducted a similar study at a charity clinic in rural Illinois to determine the effectiveness of prolotherapy in treating knee pain. As part of the study, 80 patients were treated every three months. After 15 months, the patients were asked to rate their levels of pain and to describe their physical and psychological symptoms. They were also asked to provide details of their day-to-day activities before and after their last prolotherapy treatment.
